Product Questions

Are your products vegan and plant-based?

All of our products are plant-based, and vegan.

Are your products dairy free?

Our factory is a dairy free site. However, one of the ingredients we use in our chocolate is made in a factory where contamination with milk may occur. As a result, we cannot guarantee our chocolate is free from traces of milk, unfortunately. We are working with the supplier to try to ultimately find a resolution to this.

I have a nut allergy, can I eat your chocolate?

Hazlenuts are present in the base formulation of our Smooth & Creamy chocolate, including the flavour varieties.

Whilst our Signature Creamy does not contain nuts in the recipe, our factory handles nuts, so we can't guarantee the Signature Creamy bars are free from traces of nuts.

I have an allergy to SOYA, can I eat your chocolate?

Whilst our chocolate does not contain soya in the recipe (we use Sunflower Lecethin instead), some of the inclusions we add to our chocolate may/do contain soy (i.e., salted caramel & biscoff). In this way, can't guarantee our bars are free from soy.

Please read the nutritional guidance for more information on each bar.

I have a gluten allergy, can I eat your chocolate?

Afraid not. Whilst the oats we use are gluten free, our supplier makes them in a factory where gluten contamination may occur. In this way, we cannot guarantee our chocolate is free from traces of gluten.

How long does your chocolate last?

Please check your chocolate bar for expiration information. Our chocolate will typically have a shelf life of 12 months. However, properly stored, chocolate can last much longer than the Best Before we are required to put on the pack.

That said, we recommend eating the chocolate within 6 months as chocolate is actually quite sensitive to heat, odour, humidity, etc.

We recommend storing in a cool, dry place. 18 degrees is about perfect for our chocolate!

Why does my chocolate look funny?

All our chocolate is hand made, and on very rare occasions, our chocolate can have faults. We're human, so now and then we make mistakes.

It will likely be that the bar is out of temper. Whilst this can look a little odd, but there's actually nothing wrong with the chocolate. It could easily be melted and re-tempered to have a perfect finish.

The bar may have what we call 'bloomed' and may not have a characteristic 'snap' if it isn't tempered correctly.

If you are unhappy with your bar for whatever reason, please message us at info@chocoholics-anonymous.co.uk.

How much is shipping?

Why do you have a minimum order limit? Are you trying to force us into a life of chocolate gluttony?

Unfortunately, the answer is fairly simple: Picking and packing single bars can be a real pain in the a**e, especially when we're swamped with orders.

That said, if you have a special request or just can't resist the temptation of a single, standalone chocolate bar, shoot us an email at info@chocoholics-anonymous.co.uk and we'll see what we can do to fulfill your chocolatey desires.

We're chocoholics too and we completely understand the struggle.

General FAQs

Is your packaging recylable?

We chose to use good ol' fashioned paper and foil for our chocolate bar packaging. Both of these materials can be recycled. We had other options, like Polyprop and Compostible. But...

Polypropylene (aka plastic) isn't always able to be recycled, even at recycling centers. Some companies might say they use polyprop as it helps keep the chocolate 'fresh' or increases the shelf life, but chocolate has been happily wrapped in foil and paper for over 100 years. The sad fact is, using polypropylene to wrap bars is cheap, and just a way for companies to save some dough. Ah well.

You might also have heard of "compostable" packaging as a greener alternative, but it's not always the case. A lot of compostable packaging requires special facilities for it to break down, and when was the last time you had an industrial recylcer in your neighbourhood recyling centre? Plus it is VERY expensive and this cost can only go one place, the consumer!

We think paper and foil packaging is the way to go, and we hope you agree!
